Step 1

Measure the blind you want

The finished width at the top and the bottom, and the drop on both sides, in millimetres, to the outside edges of where you want it. Inside the posts or past them: you tell us which. Then a photo of the opening.

Choose your fabric, see your price

Clear PVC or sunscreen mesh, made to your size with roped edges. Add a note for anything unusual. The price updates as you go.

Step 3

Fit it yourself

The kit is the blind, its top and side aluminium C-track, rolling clips and screws. A drill and a level are all you need.

Measuring, in six lines

Decide where the blind fits: inside the posts, or past them on the face of the posts.
Width: measure to the outside edges of where you want the finished blind, once along the top and once along the bottom. Give us both.
Drop: measure from where the top track will fix down to where you want the blind to finish, on the left side and the right side. Give us both.
Put a level on the top of the opening where the track will go, and tick the box on the order once it's level.
Write them all down in millimetres. A 2.4 m wide blind is 2400.
Take a photo of the whole opening with the tape in it, and attach it to that blind below. It's how we check your numbers before we cut.

Fitting, in six

Fix the top aluminium C-track across the top of the opening. Between posts, put in one centre screw only for now: once both ends are screwed off there's no way to slide the blind in.
Slide the blind's roped top edge into the track from one end. Then straighten the track up, level, and screw it off working from the middle out.
Slide a side track onto each roped side edge of the blind.
Centre the side tracks so the blind sits taut, not tight. Too tight and the zips won't run.
Screw the side tracks to the posts or wall.
Unzip, roll the blind up by hand and hold it with the rolling clips.

Big blinds need two people: one to feed the rope into the track, one to take the weight.

Made to size means no returns on a cut blind. If your numbers and your photo don't agree, we'll ring you before we cut, not after.

What if I measure wrong?

Your photo is our check. We compare the opening in the shot, tape measure and all, to the numbers you gave us before anything is cut. If something looks off we ring you first. The side tracks are centred on the blind when you fit it, so a small width error is taken up there.

Can I have a doorway zip, or something unusual?

Yes. Put it in that blind's notes. If it changes the price we ring you before anything is cut, and nothing is cut until you've agreed.

How long until it arrives?

Each blind is cut and welded to order on our Levin floor. Current lead time is 2–3 weeks, or 4–5 weeks with powder-coated track, and it's shown on this page and on your order.

Can Canvasland still measure and fit it for me?

Yes. This is the do-it-yourself route for people who'd rather skip the site visit. The measured-and-fitted option hasn't gone anywhere.

Is this the same PVC as your installed screens?

Same fabric, same welding, same hardware. The only difference is who does the measuring and the fitting.

How does it open and close?

Unzip the sides, roll the blind up by hand and hold it with the rolling clips. To close, unclip, roll it down and zip the sides. It should sit taut, not tight: if the zips are hard going, the side tracks are a touch too far apart or too close.
