Kāpiti Coast
Awnings, blinds and shade on the Kāpiti Coast
Retractable awnings, Ziptrak® outdoor blinds, shade sails and glazed roofs for Kāpiti homes and businesses — measured on site, made in our Levin workshop, and fitted by our own crew. We're about 40 minutes up the road.
Getting to you
Levin to Paraparaumu is roughly 40 minutes, so Kāpiti is a normal working day for us rather than a travel job. Site measures and installs are scheduled the same way as local work, and there's no travel surcharge.
What matters here
Kāpiti Coast has its own problems. We spec for them.
Coastal wind is the deciding factor
Kāpiti's westerly exposure is the thing that breaks outdoor cover here. A retractable awning that's fine in a sheltered Levin backyard needs a different arm rating, fixing pattern and wind strategy on an exposed Raumati or Paekākāriki section. We spec for the site you actually have, and we'll tell you when a retractable is the wrong answer and a fixed structure is the right one.
Salt gets into everything
Close to the beach, salt attacks fixings and hardware long before it touches the fabric. We use marine-grade fittings as standard on coastal jobs and powder-coated or stainless componentry where it's warranted — the same fittings we put on boat covers.
West-facing sun and glare
Kāpiti's west-facing decks catch the full afternoon sun and the glare off the water. Ziptrak® screens handle glare and wind together without closing the space in, which is why they suit this coast better than a fixed shade in a lot of cases.

Kāpiti Coast questions
Do you charge extra to come to Kāpiti?
No. Kāpiti is inside our normal service area — about 40 minutes from the workshop — so site measures and installs are quoted the same as local work.
Will a retractable awning survive on an exposed coastal section?
It depends on the site. Retractables are rated to a wind speed and should be retracted above it. On a very exposed section we'll often recommend a fixed frame awning or a glazed roof instead — we'd rather tell you that at the quote than replace it in two years.
How long does a job take?
A free site assessment is usually within a week or two. From accepted quote, most residential awning and blind work runs a few weeks depending on the system and the season.
