Outdoor shade and shelter built for Wellington wind

Shade sails, outdoor blinds, awnings and glazed roofs for Wellington homes, schools and businesses — engineered for the country's toughest wind, made in Levin and installed by our own crew.

Getting to you

Wellington is a little over an hour from the Levin workshop. We work through the region regularly, and site visits are scheduled as normal jobs rather than one-off trips.

What matters here

Wellington has its own problems. We spec for them.

01

Wind is the whole design problem

Wellington doesn't forgive under-specced outdoor structures. Anything we put up here is designed around the wind first and the shade second — span, anchor points, post sizing and fabric choice all follow from it. This is the single biggest reason cheap imported kitset shade fails in this city.

02

Fabric choice changes with exposure

A knitted shade cloth that performs happily in Horowhenua can flog itself to pieces on an exposed Wellington site. On high-exposure jobs we'll often specify a heavier membrane or a rigid system instead, and we'll explain the trade-off rather than just quoting what you asked for.

03

Consent and producer statements

Larger structures in Wellington frequently need council consent, and commercial work almost always does. We can supply producer statements for engineered structures, which is usually the thing that unblocks a school board or a commercial project.

Wellington questions

Can a shade sail actually survive Wellington?

Yes, if it's engineered for the site rather than bought off a shelf. That means correct span, proper anchor points into sound structure, and a fabric matched to the exposure. On the most extreme sites we'll recommend a rigid roof instead and say so up front.

Do you provide producer statements?

Yes, for engineered structures. This is often what a school board or commercial project needs to get consent moving.

Do you travel to Wellington for small jobs?

For repairs and smaller items it's usually quicker and cheaper if you can get them to Levin. For anything fixed or installed, we come to you.
